So me and Lou were talking about the phenomenon of Tavi.. and how it's all just a little bit sad.
She's so young to be exposed to such a bitchy world where (in the words of Heidi Klum...)"one minute you are in ze next you are out.." .
Her success just shows how much the fashion industry is obsessed with youth.
I mean I believe that style is acquired with age. It's very rare that I see a young person with style that seems effortless, and true. Most of the time people (myself included) are influenced by who they hang out with, what trends are in and who they want to impress with what they're wearing...
Anyhow , when myself and Louise look back on our childhoods we know we can laugh about all the tragic outfits we wore and fads that we soaked up like sponges..
It seems to me that girls like Tavi are having their opportunity to make childhood mistakes taken away from them, as in they are under pressure to never get a look wrong or to mess up with their opinions because they are being judged along side the adults of the world who have had the advantage of 20 , 30, 40 whatever years to get their identity perfected.
Anyhow , we just took a stroll down the back in the day lane and put together some pics of the most offensive things that we used to wear...
Tragic.
Oh my god the bubble bags!! I had banished them to the back of my mind they were so awful!I had a purple one!
ReplyDeletei know they were an abomination to bags everywhere!! haha why were we obsessed with inflatable plastic things in the 90s? couches, bags, picture frames...ohh soo tacky.
